It’s me. i’m del.icio.us user taggedhype.

ⅰ started it months ago just to test a simple mashup and advanced uses of rss (eg. working with rss in a sense of a unix pipe).

in the meantime ⅰ almost forgot the little perl hack which works in the cellars of my linux workstation.
nice to see that hypemachine isn’t bugged about this little deriative of their great service.

at least 80.000 audios – discovered by hypemachine – were tagged with the fine webservice of last.fm (think of „http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/artist/“. $artist .“/toptags.xml“). no wonder del.icio.us pulled the plug and cut the tagged bookmarks to 10.000.

So sieht es aus, wenn ein von einem Internetkonzern geschluckter Social-Bookmarking-Service von seinen Benutzern benutzt wird, um den Dienst selber überflüssig zu machen. Das ist ungefähr so, als würde man auf dem ungeliebten Haustier zum Viehhändler reiten, wo man sich das neue Lieblingstier abholt. Ungefähr. Man beachte den Ausschlag der Graphen der Tags „opensource“ und „scuttle“. Die Leute schauen sich also nach Alternativen um. Das ist zwar schön, löst aber nicht das Problem, dass die del.icio.us Community fragmentieren wird, ohne dass es bisher umfassende Web 2.0 Mechanismen gibt, die Tags miteinander verlinken. Sozusagen Social-Tagging über die Grenzen der einzelnen Dienstanbieter hinweg. Technorati.com kann da nur ein Anfang sein.
Mal schauen, wohin ich umziehen werde.

del.icio.us habe ich schon erwähnt. social bookmarking rules. aber warum ist der code von del.icio.us nicht frei? joshua, der betreiber, wartet wohl darauf von google gekauft zu werden. jetzt erwartet uns eine fragmentierung der community, da de.lirio.us als open source auf der bildfläche erscheint.
