flash videoplayer und mp4 video
habe mir gerade noch mal die misere mit flash video playern und mp4 videos angeschaut. manchmal spielen die player die videos direkt ab und man sieht den ladebalken noch wandern, bei anderen videos muss erst die ganz datei geladen werden, bis man etwas zu sehen bekommt, was besonders nervt, weil man kein feedback bekommt, was gerade passiert.
der hintergrund ist recht technisch: hier erklärt der adobe-programmier (hersteller von dem flash-crap), was genau nötig ist:
If you use progressive download instead of FMS make sure that the moov atom (which is the index information in MPEG-4 files) is at the beginning of the file. Otherwise you have to wait until the file is completely downloaded before it is played back.
nun erzeugen alle möglichen video encoder dateien, wo das moov atom am ende der datei zu finden ist. man muss die also nachbearbeiten. mit einem macosx-programm (funktionierte bei mir nicht), einem AIR-programm (kommt mir nicht auf die platte, so ein mist) oder dem public domain programm qt-faststart von Mike, das in dem Multimedia-Software Wunder ffmpeg enthalten ist.
die anwendung von qt-faststart ist dann recht einfach:
qt-faststart datei-doof.mp4 datei-doll.mp4
manchmal beschwert sich qt-faststart, dass die datei nicht zu gebrauchen ist: „last atom in file was not a moov atom“.
da muss man dann erst einmal einen gültigen container mit ffmpeg erzeugen:
ffmpeg -i datei-superdoof.mp4 -acodec copy -vcodec copy datei-doof.mp4
dann klappt es auch mit qt-faststart:

Update: Handbrake hat ein nettes grafisches Interface zu ffmpeg, einfach „Web optimized“ anklicken und fertig ist der lack. presets inklusive. für linux/macosx u.a.
